MADE TO ORDER: CURRENTLY SHIPPING WITHIN 1 WEEK

Our wintertime favorite! Slip these pogies over your trekking or XC-ski poles on your frigid winter excursions.
  • Magnetic 'zippers'
Magnets help keep the bottoms of the pogies shut while allowing you to use your poles or easily free your hands for intricate tasks.
  • Two layers of 4 oz Primaloft Gold insulation
Primaloft delivers light and lofty warmth encased between a lightweight waterproof breathable shell and a taffeta liner.

You can secure the pogies in two ways: to your hands or your poles.

  • Secured to poles:
Insert the pole through the bottom openings and use the snap to secure them. Leave the wrist uncinched for easier access.
  • Secured to your hands:
Put your hand through the cinched opening. Pull the one-handed cinches with your other hand to secure the cuff. Be careful not to over-tighten the cinches to avoid restricting circulation!

RECENTLY UPDATED (11/21/2023)

  • The shape is now optimized for better pole placement and more efficient use of the insulation.
  • A snap has been added to improve use for those who wish to leave the pogies attached to their poles.
  • The elasticized wrist has been replaced with an adjustable/removable shock cord.

Material:

  • Shell:
-2.5 Layer WPB w/ 10D ripstop nylon face
     -Hydrostatic Head: >9000mm
     -MVTR (breathability): >27,000 g/m2/24 hr
     -black color
  • Liner:
     -10D Micro grip ripstop nylon
     -olive drab color
  • Insulation:
-2 layers of 4 oz Primaloft Gold
Note: There is no insulation in the cuff.

Weight (per pair):

  • Small: 3.4 oz | 97g**
  • Medium: 4.1 oz | 117g**
  • Large: 4.5 oz | 129g**
  • **Note: Due to fluctuation in the insulation, actual weights vary. We will update the information here as more data is collected.
  • Weight saving options: To reduce weight, consider removing one or both shock cords, depending on how you like using the pogies. You can always add them back if you change your mind. Removing one shock cord from each pogie will save about 0.24 oz (6.8g), while removing both shock cords will save roughly 0.48 oz (13.6g).

Sizing info:

Measure the length of your hand from the base of your palm to the tip of your longest finger to find your size. If you think you'll wear a glove liner under the pogie (we often do), measure with the glove liner on.

  • Small: 5.5" - 6.75" (14 - 17cm)
  • Medium: 6.75" - 8" (14 - 20cm)
  • Large: 8" - 9" (20 - 22cm)

There is quite a bit of flexibility with sizing and a few things to consider when choosing your size:

  • We recommend sizing up for XC skiing or if you plan to keep the pogies attached to your poles.
  • If you're in between sizes, we usually recommend sizing up. However, if you plan to use the pogies without poles primarily, we recommend sizing down.
  • If the pogies are too big for you, they will still work, but they are more likely to be 'floppy' and cumbersome when used without poles. Additionally, the magnetic closure becomes more challenging to open.
  • If the pogies are too small for you, they may start feeling restricted, and the closure is more likely to open unintentionally.
  • If the pogies are too small for you, you may be more likely to feel the edge of the magnetic strip, which can feel abrasive to bare skin for some people.

Product Availability

  • In most cases, items that are available to add to your cart are in-stock and ready to ship. Please refer to the shipping tab or page for expected fulfillment times.
  • Some items may be marked as "Avalable to backorder," "Made to order," and/or show a lead time. In these cases refer to the information on the product page for expected fulfillment times.
  • For items that are sold out, please refer to the production calendar and the Q & A below for more information.

Q: When can I expect the item I'm interested in to become available?

A: For most items, please refer to the production calendar at the bottom of this page. This calendar shows when we expect to work on more substantial products. For some accessory products, production may not always be scheduled in advance and availability may be unpredictable.

FYI: If you do not see the item that you are interested in, then we do not know when it may become available (We're often not scheduled far out in advance and don't have a private schedule beyond what's shown!).

Q: Can I pre-order, back-order, or reserve an item?

A: We don't typically reserve products, however there are some exceptions to this. For example, if someone orders an in-stock Cirriform and wants to also order an out-of-stock Bug Shelter for it, if the Bug Shelter is expected within a couple weeks, we'll usually make arrangements to reserve one of the Bug Shelters and hold the order so shipping may be combined.

On occasion, select products may be available to back-order or pre-order. When this happens, that status will be shown on the product page. If you're signed up for the stock notification, you will receive a notice that the item is available to back/pre-order.

Q: Can you let me know when the item becomes available?

A: Yes. On the product page, enter your email address in the space provided to be automatically notified when inventory becomes available. If you don't see where you can do this, please let me know; sometimes there's a fluke in the settings and the field doesn't show. Please note that the email notification could get filtered out as spam. You can try to 'whitelist' info@yamamountaingear.com to make sure the email comes through.

NOTES ON USING THE CALENDAR

- For products shown on the calendar, you can typically expect the item to be made available towards the end, or soon after the period shown on the calendar. Sometimes, however, some items may be listed earlier in the period. For example, if the calendar shows that I'm working on tapered tarps, certain sizes may become available earlier within the period with other sizes coming later.

- Items that specify "ongoing production" mean that we are continually working on these items and doing our best to maintain inventory. If the item or a particular size is sold out, you can expect it to likely become available soon.

- Please note that you can change the month shown on the calendar using the arrows at the top.
